Studies done on Jewish holocaust survivors show trauma is passed down from generation to generation through DNA. Over hundreds of years of slavery, is it plausible Black people have that traumatic experience encoded in their DNA?
I had the pleasure of speaking with Mark Wolynn about a topic that doesn’t get enough of the credit it deserves. And since Mark literally wrote the book on it, I asked him to explain what inherited family trauma is and what we can do to begin to heal.

Unconsciously, we relive our mother’s anxiety. We repeat our father’s disappointments. We replicate the failed relationships of our parents and grandparents. Just as we inherit our eye color and blood type, we also inherit the residue from traumatic events that have taken place in our family.
