We recently sent out a survey to our email list to get some data about the kinds of relationships queer folks are engaging in. We got about 500 responses. According to our data, 60% of the folks surveyed are in open relationships, and of those 60%, about a third of them are in what’s known as “don’t ask, don’t tell” relationships -where the relationship is open, but there are no discussions of hookups outside the relationship. Gay Therapy Center founder + director Adam Blum talks about why “don’t ask, don’t tell” policies are problematic in open relationships and what you can do instead.
