Horizons 2019: Carl Hart, Ph.D. “Dispelling Lies the Psychedelic Community Believes About Drugs”

“Dispelling the Lies that the Psychedelic Community Believes About Drugs” Dr. Carl Hart will discuss his upcoming book, Drug Use for Grown Ups, outlining some of the lessons he’s learned from studying psychoactive drugs in people for more than 20 years. He’ll detail the neurobiological, socio-environmental, and political forces that influence drug use and drug experiences. Particular attention will be paid to cultural biases ingrained in today’s communities. Dr. Hart will remind attendees that psychedelics are not unique in their ability to engender insight, growth, among other positive features users seek. As such, he will urge attendees to stand up on behalf of those who may use other substances in their pursuit of happiness.
