With a Masters and PhD from University of Michigan, Dr. wadud has authored Qur’an and Woman: Rereading the Sacred Text from a Woman’s perspective, translated into over a dozen language, as well as the book Inside the Gender Jihad: Women’s Reform in Islam. Self described as a black senior non-binary America Muslim woman living in South East Asia, in her interview with Guru Jagat, Dr. Wadud shares scholarship her relationship to divine feminine, and her experience of the words and poetics of the Qur’an.
