Baal Shem Tov



Baal Shem Tov (born Yisrael ben Eliezer, 1698–1760) was a Polish healer and Jewish mystic who is widely regarded as the founder of the Hasidic Judaism movement. He became known as Rabbi Yisrael Baal Shem Tov (or the Besht) after his reputation as a healer of both physical and spiritual ailments grew.
