In times of crisis, we often see an outpouring of what we call the “human spirit”: that force that compels people to show up with greater compassion and care for one another. This love is available to us all the time, yet many of us grapple on a daily basis with how to access it, both for ourselves and others. So what stands in the way? Since none of us was loved “perfectly” as a young child, we’ve all developed defenses and negative beliefs over time around our lovability.
