Mona Polacca, Havasupai/Hopi, spoke at the Rights of Mother Earth Conference, about the foundation of life. From the first water inside the mother’s womb, to the prayer upon which life depends, Polacca spoke of the spirituality of life.

When our ancestors received the Torah, they stood at a mountain. When we celebrate receiving the Torah on Shavuot, we will stand in the pews. They looked at the sky; we will look at the ceiling. They were warmed by the sun; we will be cooled by the air conditioning. I am a rabbi in a synagogue.
We need to think about the values we treasure, the world we create and the tablets we are writing. The Torah must be both adopted and adapted in this new world. We stand again at Sinai, and the revelation, dark or bright, is in our hands.
Through the practice of meditation, there are certain changes that happen in the mind. One of the most important changes is that you become master of your mind.
