CLEAR ALL
Still clinging to the fears and fury of childhood? You can unarrest your development once and for all.
In the beginning, it was difficult to let myself rest, even with the ultimate doctor’s note. I felt like I still had to push past my (extremely limited) capabilities. I had to practice slowing down and allowing my frailties to become visible even when I had the choice to hide them.
I was told that I should receive an appointment in about six to eight weeks, but my gut was telling me that something wasn’t right, so I decided I wanted to get it investigated sooner than that.
“Never stop asking. Stay on those doctors. If you feel something is wrong and your doctor isn’t doing something, go to someone else.”
I now realize that a framed piece of paper saying that someone is a doctor will never trump a gut intuition.
It's not that I'm blind to life's fragility or the dangers around me. It's just that I possess a gift offered by many mistake-filled years: At my age, I have a pretty good idea what and whom to trust.
