All students need to know that they have the ability to learn new skills — just as though they’re learning a musical instrument. A growth mindset is their ticket to becoming an adaptable and teachable individual, ready to explore the world.
On a dreary Monday morning, I am listening to an inconsolable graduate student. Based on their state of anxiety, you would think they are on the verge of flunking out of their program or that a loved one has fallen seriously ill. The truth is far different.
It’s not easy to let our kids be less than perfect.
