Religious Daoism

The present article attempts to take into account the Western scholarly views on Daoism as well as the Daoists’ views of their own tradition. As a consequence, it is based on a broad definition of what we might call Daoist religion, and also includes views that pertain to what we might call Daoist philosophy (or Daoist thought).
