For more than a decade, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar has been focused on introducing underserved students to a STEM education, which is science, technology, engineering and math.
I’m a tenured, deeply qualified New York City teacher, but some only see my disability. At least my students know the impact I can make in the world.
I know that my biracial children will experience racism, sexism and intolerance. But I want them to be bold enough to not push people away and instead seek to understand through education. This is how we bring radical change through our children.
A 2007 poll found that the biggest issue for voters as the 2008 election approaches is not the Iraq war. It’s an issue that leaders have not been focusing on: the well-being of America’s children.
